Learn maths class 2 online - this is how it works

On this page and the individual pages, you can learn all the topics of mathematics in grade 2 online. Here you will find all the topics that are taught in primary school. The basic rule for us in grade 2 is: We calculate up to 100. Here, we first want to explain the mathematics. We then branch out to individual interactive exercises or refer to one of our exercise books.

Of course, we cannot cover all these topics in Maths Class 2 on one page. That would be far too confusing. Therefore, you can work on each topic individually and do interactive exercises. The Maths Lesson 2 exercise books help you not only to calculate everything online.

Recognise (read) and write numbers in class 2

We read numbers and write the numbers with digits. In this exercise with the tasks for class 2, you have to draw the numbers into the appropriate fields. You will soon find more similar exercises on the topic of "Reading and writing numbers correctly" via the link on the details page.

Arranging numbers in class 2

Put the correct arrangement sign. Which number is bigger, which is smaller, which numbers are equal? When you calculate with numbers in grade 2, you need to know which number is bigger or smaller. Here you can learn and practise these tasks from mathematics grade 2.

The Hundreds Table / Predecessor Successor

All numbers with the same ones place are arranged below each other, those with the same tens place are arranged next to each other.

In primary school, we use the hundreds chart to practise number comprehension and the arrangement of numbers. The table of hundreds is also used to recognise the predecessor and successor of a number. Building on this, addition and subtraction usually follow in primary school in grade 2. The hundreds chart is also a good place to practise the multiplication tables by marking all the numbers in a series.

Hundreds Chart Maths Exercises Grade 2 Comparing Numbers

An exercise on the row of 5 with the hundreds chart:

Simple addition and subtraction in the head (up to 20)

Addition and subtraction with a leap of ten

Addition with jump of ten

Can you do addition with a leap of ten? This is also called a transition of tens. This means that there is a transition to the next ten. A small example will show you this:

17 + 8 = 17 + 3 + 5 = 20 + 5 = 25

You divide the number to be added into two parts. The first part is chosen so that the next ten becomes full. So 17 + 3 = 20. The rest of the number is now 5. So now we calculate 20 + 5 = 25. And we're done!

When adding larger numbers, we can also add the tens first and then decompose the units as in the example before.

This example shows that:

47 + 26 = 47 + 20 + 6

47 + 20 = 67

67 + 6 = 67 + 3 + 3 = 70 + 3 = 73.

47 + 26 is therefore equal to 73.

From the 26 we have first added the tens and arrive at the intermediate result 67. Now we still have to add the remaining 6, with a ten transition as known.

Arithmetic to 100: Addition and subtraction Grade 2

One of the main topics in primary school class 2 is addition up to 100. In this chapter you will find lots of addition and subtraction exercises!

The little 1x1 multiplication tables in primary school - lots of tasks

Besides addition and subtraction with transition to tens, multiplication tables are perhaps the most important topic in grade 2 in primary school. Here you can practise really well and a lot.

Example task from the exercise book:

Only the mushrooms from the row of 7 belong in the basket. Paint these mushrooms brown, the others are poisonous and red.

7 times table

Interactive example:

Find the matching pairs and put the shoes together.

This is only a small example. Of course, all the tasks of a multiplication tables series are included on the details page!
